About the Artist

Founded in 2025 by designer and maker Ava Wood, And What? Studio is an independent jewelry brand rooted in organic, sculptural forms and bespoke elegance. Each piece is handcrafted by Ava in Providence, Rhode Island using the lost wax casting method. Every design begins in wax and is transformed into sterling silver or gold—resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces, each infused with intention and the distinctive charm of And What? Studio.
Ava holds a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art from Skidmore College, where she specialized in Fiber Arts and Metalsmithing. A lifelong maker, she has been sewing and crocheting since childhood, always exploring new materials and techniques. In 2020, during a hotel quarantine, she launched CROCHETVA, a textile-based art brand born from days of non-stop crocheting.
While jewelry became her true creative focus during her senior year of college, Ava decided to give it its own identity in 2025—separate from CROCHETVA, her page for all things creative—and thus, And What? Studio was born. The brand is a celebration of craftsmanship, play, and the beauty of imperfection—designed for those who appreciate thoughtful, wearable art.
And What? Studio is a celebration of slow design, individuality, and the unexpected beauty found in organic forms. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, personal artifacts, and the playful tension between structure and softness, the brand blends traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary edge. Each piece is designed to feel both sculptural and intimate—jewelry meant to be worn daily, treasured deeply, and never replicated. At its core, And What? Studio invites wearers to express themselves through thoughtful, one-of-a-kind adornments that tell a story.
